🌱 Product Strategy Deck

HydroPod — Revolutionizing Home Agriculture

End-to-end product strategy for a smart home hydroponics concept — from market sizing and user personas through go-to-market and business model.

✍️ Shraddha Singh 📂 Consumer Hardware · AgriTech · IoT 🎯 Zero-to-One Product Thinking
01 · Context
The Business Problem

A blank slate: a concept for smart home hydroponics with no validated market, no product definition, and no technical proof-of-concept. The ask was a full strategic case — enough to justify or kill the idea before investing in development.

02 · Research
Market Sizing & Persona Discovery

Sized the global home farming market using TAM/SAM/SOM. Interviewed early adopters across urban gardeners, health-conscious households, and sustainability advocates. Found the primary pain point wasn't yield — it was cognitive load.

03 · Decision
GTM-First Over Tech-First

Recommended a GTM-first approach — build the distribution channel before the product. Chose a DTC subscription model over hardware-only retail. Ruled out B2B (restaurants) in Phase 1 due to high CAC and long sales cycles.

04 · Outcome
Output & Reflection

Delivered a full strategy deck: market sizing, 3 validated personas, phased roadmap, and a monetisation model with unit economics. Learning: zero-to-one strategy is 80% constraint-setting — knowing what you won't build is as valuable as knowing what you will.

What it covers

Market sizing (TAM/SAM/SOM), competitive landscape, user personas, product vision, feature roadmap, GTM strategy, and financial projections.

Why it's here

Shows how I approach a product from a blank slate — synthesising market signals, user needs, and business constraints into a coherent strategy.

Key skills demonstrated

Zero-to-one thinking · Market sizing · Persona development · Roadmap sequencing · GTM planning · Business model design

Key Highlights

Market Opportunity

Sized the home hydroponics TAM at $4.5B globally with a 12% CAGR. Identified urban millennials in Tier-1 Indian cities and US metros as the primary SAM — high disposable income, limited outdoor space, health-conscious.

User Personas

Built three distinct personas: the Health-Conscious Urban Professional (primary), the Sustainability Advocate, and the Home Chef — each with distinct motivations, willingness to pay, and product expectations.

Product Strategy

Recommended a "hardware-led, software-monetized" model: low-margin hardware to acquire users, high-margin subscription for grow plans, seed kits, and community features.

GTM Approach

Phased GTM: D2C launch via Instagram/YouTube (lifestyle content), followed by Amazon marketplace, then retail partnerships with premium grocery chains (Whole Foods, Nature's Basket).
